Lyme Park (12)

This is The Cage, which stands prominently on a ridge to the north of the main house. It was built in the 1730s as part of the rebuilding scheme, replacing an earlier structure.

It has had various uses over the centuries: hunting lodge, party pad, estate workers' accommodation, and lock-up for poachers - hence its name.
